that the City of Vero Beach will contribute the current <br />library building and that we get the rest of the funds <br />in the manner described with the millage. <br />Commissioner Bird assumed that any contract we enter into <br />for the purchase of any site would be subject to site plan <br />approval and obtaining all the necessary permits, and this was <br />confirmed by Commissioner Eggert. <br />Chairman Scurlock asked if the Motion is contingent on the <br />City of Vero Beach making a contribution of the old library site <br />to us. <br />Commissioner Bird stated that he would include that <br />contingency in his second, and Commissioner Eggert agreed to make <br />the Motion contingent on that also. <br />Commissioner Bird noted that from the very beginning -he has <br />relied on people who have a lot more expertise on this subject <br />than he has, and he has heard very loud and clear that those <br />people who are most actively supporting this library strongly <br />favor the Grace Lutheran site. Commissioner Bird stated that he <br />agreed with their thoughts and recommendations, and if we can <br />work out the contingencies, he would have no problem supporting <br />that site. <br />Chairman Scurlock commented that Vero Beach never ceases to <br />amaze him. It is sort of like soup - you keep on adding <br />ingredients and stirring the pot, and until the soup is ready, it <br />is never ready. He felt the willingness of the Commission to <br />have the kind of open forum we have and the ability to get an <br />issue on an agenda for discussion, even if it is not a popular <br />one, is really what has made Vero Beach the special community it <br />is.
