Amended Staff Recommendation <br />On -Call Ambulance Company <br />Application for Certificate <br />of Public Convenience and <br />Necessity for EMS Transport <br />iES' Indian River County <br />REFERENK•Ordinance #87-66 and Staff <br />Recommendation dated <br />April 18, 1988 <br />On April 18, 1988, staff corresponded with the'Board of,County <br />Commissioners in regard to an application from On -Call Ambulance <br />Company's request for a Certificate of Public Convenience and <br />Necessity for EMS transport recommending that the certificate <br />not be issued. The recommendation was based on input from the <br />EMS providers as required by the above referenced ordinance. <br />Since the date of the recommendation, a meeting was held at <br />the Indian River Memorial Hospital with the EMS providers re- <br />garding their ability to provide the inter -facility transport <br />given the staffing problems. .:'existing on the meeting date of <br />April 28, 1988. The local 'providers modified their earlier <br />position regarding the On -Cali Ambulance Company and requested <br />that the recommendation contained in the correspondence re- <br />ferenced above be amended to reflect their approval for a certi- <br />ficate to be issued to the company. It was also agreed that <br />availability of local resources in- terms of inter -facility <br />transport would be exhausted prior to requesting the services <br />of On -Call Ambulance Company each time this type transport <br />was necessary. <br />Based on the above information, staff recommends that the Indian <br />River County Board of County Commissioners approve the appli- <br />cation for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity <br />for On -Call Ambulance Company to provide inter -facility ALS <br />and BLS transport. <br />TO: Charles Balczun DATE: April 18, 1988 <br />County Administrator <br />FROM: Doug Wright, Director <br />Emergency Management <br />Services <br />SUBJECT: On -Call Ambulance Co.,Inc. <br />Application For a Certifi- <br />cate of Public Convenience <br />and Necessity for EMS <br />Transport <br />REFERENCES: Indian River County <br />Ordinance #87-66 <br />It is requested that the information herein presented be given formal <br />consideration by the Board of County Commissioners at its next regular <br />meeting. <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />On March 24, 1988, an application for a Certificate of Public Con- <br />venience and Necessity for EMS Transport was received from Dr. Robert <br />19 <br />MAY 101989 <br />nor 72 ME 299 <br />
