DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS: <br />AWARD OF IRC BID #440 <br />SUPPLY AND•INSTALL FIRE <br />EXTINGUISHING SYSTEM <br />FOR FLEET MANAGEMENT <br />Bids were received on Wednesday May 11,1988 at 2 P.M. for IRC <br />bid #440 -- <br />12 invitations to bid were sent out. 8 bids were received includi <br />4 no bids. <br />This bid was advertised.in the newspaper. <br />2. ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS: <br />The low bid meeting our specifications was submitted by Fire <br />Equipment Services Inc. of Ft. Pierce at $9302.00. <br />No exceptions to our specifications have been taken by this compai <br />3. RECOMMENDATION AND FUNDING: <br />Staff recommends that we award this contract to Fire <br />Equipment Services Inc. <br />Budgetary funding has been confirmed for expenditure form Fleet <br />Management accounts. <br />Commissioner Eggert questioned the contrast in size of these <br />bids. For example, under Supply 8 Install we see $11,860, <br />$14,575, and the one we choose at $4,442 while under Optional <br />Conduit we see figures ranging from $890 to $800 to $3,060, which <br />she found odd. <br />Purchasing Manager Ambler: advised that he also was concerned <br />about that and discussed it with the vendor, who assured him that <br />he can do the job for those prices. <br />23 BOOK �2 PAGE 4�8 <br />MAY � 11999 <br />
