ENGINEERING FOR REPLACEMENT OF KINGS HIGHWAY BRIDGE OVER NORTH <br />RELIEF CANAL <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated 6/10/88: <br />TO: Charles Balczun, <br />County Administrator <br />FROM: James W. Davis, P.E <br />Public Works Director <br />i <br />SUBJECT: Professional Civil Engineering/Land Surveying Services <br />Master Agreement and Work Order No. 1 - LLoyd and <br />Assoc, Inc.- King's Highway Bridge Replacement <br />REF. LETTER: Robert F. Lloyd, P.E., Lloyd and Associates to <br />Jim Davis dated June 9, 1988 <br />DATE: June 10, 1988 <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />Attached is a Master Engineering/Surveying Agreement and Work <br />Order No. 1 between Lloyd and Associates, Inc. and Indian River <br />County. The proper consultant selection process (Consultant's <br />Competitive Negotiation Act - V.S. 287.055) has been utilized in <br />selecting four consulting firms to design miscellaneous public <br />works projects. The project being authorized in the attached <br />Work Order No. 1 is a bridge replacement along Kings Highway at <br />the North Relief Canal. This bridge has a substructure that has <br />been subsiding as a result of poor subsurface soil conditions. <br />Timber piling supporting the bridge were replaced last year,. <br />however, the subsidence is continuing. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />The Road and Bridge Department Capital Budget (Acct. 111-214- <br />541-066.31) for PY87/88 included $200,000 for replacement of one <br />bridge within the County. <br />The -alternatives presented include: <br />Alternative No. 1 - Replace the bridge with <br />Concrete bridge a Prestressed <br />Drive. as was recently constructed at Country Club <br />Alternative No. 2 - Repair the existing bridge. <br />RECOMMENDATION AND FUNDING <br />It is recommended that the Master Agreement and Work Order No. 1 <br />be approved.- Funding in the amount of $14,75.0 for Professional <br />Services will be encumbered from Road & Bridge Fund 111-214-541- <br />033..19 - Balance on June 2, 1988 was $23,895. <br />26 <br />Bou 73 I noc 73 <br />
