He continued to stress <br />that the church will enhance the appearance of the neighborhood. <br />It was determined that no one else wished to be heard, and <br />the Chairman declared the public hearing closed. <br />Commissioner Bird stated that while he certainly shares the <br />residents' concern about the traffic, etc., he is familiar with <br />that strip, and there are several churches. He explained that in <br />our Comprehensive Plan we do allow for churches in residential <br />areas since we do not think it is good planning to make churches <br />establish in commercial shopping center areas or industrial <br />areas, but feel that they should be in the residential areas near <br />where the people live. In this case, Commissioner Bird was <br />aware that this particular property has been poorly maintained <br />over the last years with everything from moving vans to junk <br />boats on it,.and he felt sure whatever the church does will -be an <br />improvement to the neighborhood.
