TRANSFER OLD JAIL TO CITY OF VERO BEACH FOR RECREATION DEPT. <br />Attorney Vitunac reviewed the following: <br />TO: Board of County Commissioners <br />FROM: Charles P. Vitunac, County Attorney <br />DATE: July 13, 1988 <br />RE: TRANSFER OF OLD JAIL TO THE CITY OF <br />VERO BEACH FOR RECREATION DEPARTMENT <br />Commission Meeting - July. 26, 1988 <br />Attached is a proposed County deed- of the o l d jai l -site to- <br />the <br />othe City of Vero Beach for use as a joint- City -County <br />recreation facility. The deed contains a reversionary <br />Interest in the County if the City fails to develop. the <br />property within three years or if the City ever abandons the <br />use of the property for recreation. <br />Request permission for the Chairman to execute this deed on <br />behalf of the County. <br />` ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by Commis- <br />sioner Wheeler, the Board unanimously authorized <br />the Chairman to execute the deed transferring the <br />Old Jail to the City of Vero Beach. <br />Com. Eggert later in the meeting asked to revisit the Old <br />Jail item as she just did not recognize the amount of acreage <br />that is excepted as that of the Ambulance Squad. <br />Commissioner Bowman believed we also own R/W for St. Francis <br />Manor. <br />In discussion it was clarified that the Motion is contingent <br />on staff rechecking what we are conveying and making sure that we <br />are not conveying anything that we should not be in terms of the <br />Ambulance Squad. <br />Attorney Vitunac assured Commissioner Eggert the legal <br />description will be carefully checked and we will make sure we do <br />not give away the ambulance squad property. <br />57 <br />BOOK 73 P1, A03 <br />
