MXa0MIDATION AND FUNDING: <br />Staff recamtiends that we award this contract to the low bidder, <br />Pavemark Corporation as follows: <br />Two Kettle System $20,000.00 <br />with heavy Duty Trailer <br />IRC received a highway safety grant of $11,250.00 to purchase <br />a pavement parking equipment. In addition the county contri- <br />buted $1,250.00 for a total available of $12,500.00. <br />Staff would like to transfer $7,500.00 from the Traffic <br />Engineering salary account to Traffic Engineering Equiprent so <br />that we have the $20,000.00 available to purchase the appropriate <br />equipment. <br />Ftmding to be as follows: <br />Bureau of Highway Safety Grant $11,250.00 <br />Traffic Engineering Budget 1,250.00 <br />Account No. #111-245-541-066.49 C,0A ri,,GFAr ly <br />Budget amendment from Traffic Eng. S&I=Y <br />Account to Traffic Eng. Capital -Other <br />Equipment $ 7,500.00 <br />$20,000.00 <br />Staff recommends the above budget amendments be approved. <br />Commissioner Eggert was concerned about receiving so few <br />bids and no bids on some items_recently, especially when numerous <br />invitations -to bid had been sent out. She asked why that was <br />occurring so much lately. <br />Purchasing Manager Gus Ambler stressed that his department <br />Is working very hard to encourage competition for the County. <br />They have just automated the vendors' bid list and are in the <br />process of reviewing our bid specs to make sure that we are not <br />too restrictive with respect to insurance and bond posting <br />requirements. <br />Mr. Ambler advised that on this particular bid they used the <br />Thomas Register, the Builders' Exchange listing and information <br />from the DOT, but noted that there are primarily only two firms <br />in this marketplace. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Wheeler, the Board unanimously (4-0) <br />awarded Bid #443 to the low bidder as set out in the <br />above staff recommendation and.approved Budget <br />Amendment #050. <br />9 BOOK � F:1E•�� <br />A � 1, 2 1988 <br />
