RECEIy , mm <br />County Engineer �, BOARD COUN7y <br />&.� COMMISSIOnERS <br />SUBJECT: Wabasso Dredging Contract r,��_ <br />DATE: August 8, 1988- <br />----------------------------------------------------------------- <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />Bids were received on August 3, 1988 for the dredging of the <br />Wabasso Relief Bridges. <br />Five Companies submitted bids as follows: Aztec Development, <br />B.K. Marine Construction, Inc., Environmental Service, R.H. <br />Dickerman, and R.O. Contracting Co. <br />The low bid of $34,500.00 was submitted by B.K. Marine <br />Construction, Inc. of Vero Beach. <br />A discussion with Mr. Richard M. Rettstadt, General Manager <br />of B.K. Marine indicated that all items were properly addressed. <br />RECOMMENDATION AND FUNDING <br />It is staff's recommendation that the contract documents be <br />processed to award B.K. Marine Construction, Inc. to dredge the <br />Wabasso Relief Bridges. - <br />Funding will be from Parks Account #001-210-572. It should <br />be noted that 50% of the contract amount will be reimbursed by <br />the Florida Inland Navigation District. <br />Commissioner Bowman believed that all the work had been done <br />because of all the sand that was piled up, and Public Works <br />Director Jim Davis explained that was some preliminary work that <br />was done by Road 8 Bridge to get ready for the contract. <br />Chairman Scurlock asked the status of the dredging of the <br />14th Street canal, and Director Davis advised that we are <br />proceeding to get all the permits. <br />Commissioner Wheeler questioned the wide spread in the bids, <br />and County Engineer Ralph Brescia explained that this was not <br />standard.
