If we wait too <br />long we may lose this window of opportunity. <br />In conjunction with that, Chairman Scurlock wanted to <br />revisit the possibility of preparing a 5 -year program with the <br />sales tax as a potential source of funding. He would like to <br />pursue that and advised that he would be taking that before the <br />Finance Advisory Committee and coming back to the Board with some <br />recommendations in terms of how to do it. He felt it should be <br />up to the Board to decide what priorities should be included in <br />that package. <br />Commissioner Eggert pointed out that while this is a <br />reasonably priced parcel, the problem is that nobody has it in <br />their budget. <br />Commissioner Wheeler believed we would be making a mistake <br />if we did not seriously consider purchasing this property, and <br />Commissioner Bird did not have a problem with looking at <br />purchasing additional land in that area assuming that the price <br />is right. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Eggert, the Board unanimously <br />authorized Commissioner Wheeler and appropriate <br />staff to begin negotiations with First Baptist Church <br />on the property adjacent to the new library site on the <br />eastern side. <br />38 BooK 468 <br />AUG 16 1988 <br />L- -.A <br />
