the consultant has completed the work as defined in the Scope of <br />Services (pages Al thru A8). Staff and the Beach Preservation <br />and Restoration Committee have been working with Cubit to refine <br />the initial draft of the report submitted in August of 1987. <br />Comments from Committee members, City of Vero Beach, the Sebastian <br />Inlet Taxing District, and concerned citizens have been received <br />and discussed at the March 26,. 1987 and Sept. 10, 1987 Beach <br />Committee meeting. Since those -meetings, several revisions to <br />the document have been made, including the following: <br />1) Revised cost figures and other numerical data to -reflect the <br />most recent and accurate data available. The 1986 Corps of <br />Engineers Sand Source data is one example.of the use of the <br />most current information, where older data was previously <br />utilized. <br />2) An amended Capital Improvements Program located in the <br />Executive Summary, and on page -9-40 which was revised to <br />include -more accurate cost estimates based on local bids for <br />dune restoration. <br />3) A district funding map is included on page 9-43. <br />4) An expanded Emergency Response Plan in Chapter 10. <br />In addition, various refinements in the document have been <br />undertaken. .. <br />During the August 16, 1988 meeting of the Board of County <br />Commissioners, the consultant will present the finding and <br />recommendations of the study. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUNDING <br />After public comment received during the . Consultant's <br />presentation, the Board should consider final payment to Cubit <br />Engineering in the amount of $16,493.11. Funding to be from fund <br />102-110-515=033.19: A -budget amendment will be forthcoming. <br />Public Works Director Jim Davis introduced Dr. Biily 2dga <br />of Cubit Engineering, whose firm was commissioned back in 1985 to <br />do a beach preservation plan for Indian River County.
