DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS: <br />Bids were opened Wednesday, August 17, 1988 at 2:00 p.m. <br />for IRC Bid #409R. <br />12 Invitations to Bid were mailed. 5 bids were received <br />including 2 No Bids. <br />This bid was advertised in the newspaper. <br />2. ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS: <br />The low bid meeting specifications for Caustic Soda was submitted <br />by Allied Chemical at $180.00 per ton. They have taken no exceptions' <br />to our specifications. <br />3. PEJMING: <br />Purchasing is not holding a budget approved requisition. No <br />Purchase Order will be issued before one is received. <br />4. REOOMMMATION: <br />Staff recommends that the bid be awarded and staff be authorized. <br />to proceed. <br />Commissioner Eggert wished to know what method is followed <br />to keep a P.O. number from being issued when we get these items <br />with no budget approved requisition. <br />Purchasing Manager Ambler advised that staff has a double, <br />check system to make sure no P.O. number is issued before Budget <br />has actually approved the requisition and stressed that they are <br />very careful about that. <br />Commissioner Bowman stated that her question related to the <br />reason for the 50% difference in the spread of the bid prices. <br />17�QQps 7 F1U 17 <br />� <br />SEP 6 198 <br />
