Resolution 88-54 - Requesting DOT to Regulate Road Access on <br />tate Road�A-1—A-between Winter beach Ka -aa—& a ooint 4 Mill s�- <br />Florth of CR 510 Consistentnt with County Road Access Plan as <br />approved at Re -S _Tar Meeting of 916188 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 88-54 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, REQUESTING THE <br />FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (FDOT) TO <br />REGULATE ROAD ACCESS ON.STATE ROAD A -1-A BETWEEN <br />WINTER BEACH ROAD AND A POINT FOUR MILES NORTH OF <br />COUNTY ROAD #510 IN A MANNER CONSISTENT WITH THE <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY A -I -A ROAD ACCESS PLAN AND <br />FURTHER REQUESTING THAT THE COUNTY COMMUNITY <br />DEVELOPMENT AND PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENTS' STAFF <br />HAVE REVIEW STATUS PRIOR TO ISSUANCE OF. FDOT <br />CONNECTION PERMITS ALONG STATE ROAD A -I -A. <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian <br />River County, Florida, has declared that State Road A -1-A <br />from <br />Winter Beach Road to <br />a point <br />approximately <br />4.0.miles <br />north <br />of County Road #510 <br />(Wabasso <br />Road) Is the <br />only <br />major <br />transportation corridor serving as a North-South traffic <br />thoroughfare along the Northern portion of Orchid Island in <br />Indian River County and the Town of Orchid; and <br />WHEREAS, there currently exist several parcels west of <br />State Road A -i -A which have no frontage along A -I -A nor <br />current access to State Road A -I -A, said parcels being under <br />separate ownership, both within the Town of Orchid and <br />within the unincorporated area of Indian River County, <br />Florida; and <br />WHEREAS, itis in the interest of public safety that <br />access. to State Road A - I -A be controlled In a manner that <br />Individual property access points be consolidated so that <br />the level of service along A -I -A is not severely impacted; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, it is the responsibility of the State of <br />Florida Department of Transportation to issue connection <br />permits to State Road A -I -A; and <br />WHEREAS, the Indian River County Community Development <br />and Public Works Departments have researched and prepared a <br />69 <br />ssyy <br />BOOK 74 Fo,r; .3 --3 <br />
