The reason <br />they came up with this $50,000 fee is because they don't want the <br />expense of purchasing the property and then have the County come <br />around and condemn it. <br />Commissioner Bird felt the issue here is whether we want to <br />buy out their lease 6 years early for $50,000 plus attorney fees, <br />and his vote is "no". He believed the rest of this is going to <br />have to be resolved in court. <br />Attorney Vitunac still maintained that it is a matter of <br />financial damages, and Commissioner Wheeler felt comfortable with <br />the County Attorney's opinion. <br />Chairman Scurlock felt there was some value to be able to <br />eliminate 6 years and be able to go in there and level it all and <br />design a complete facility, but Commissioner Eggert interjected <br />that we don't know what that value is, and that she wasn't <br />willing to take that risk. <br />OMB Director Joe Baird stressed that there are two issues <br />here. What it is worth to them, and what it is worth to the <br />County. <br />Debate continued at length regarding the pros and cons of <br />buying out the lease for $50,000. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION.
