MCCAT{ <br />PROJECTS ENGINES <br />DEPARTMENT OF UTILITY <br />SERVICES <br />SUBJECT: INDIAN RIVER COUNTY PROJECT #UW87-22-DS, POTABLE WATER <br />MAIN, KINGS HIGHWAY AND LINDSEY ROAD, CONTRACT #1 INDIAN <br />RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />BACKGROUND <br />In keeping with water system expansions as outlined in our water <br />master plan and to take the Gifford Area off the city's water system <br />to meet the County -City service area division, we are proceeding <br />with the aforementioned project. The engineering is complete and <br />bids for the construction of this project have been received. <br />ANALYSIS <br />Bids were received for this project on August 31, 1988. Thirteen <br />contractors submitted bids. The lowest three were as follows: <br />1. Kenova Construction $1,226,210.00 <br />2. Utility Systems of America, Inc., $1,337,974.00 <br />3. W. Jackson & Sons Construction Company, $1,334,829.00. <br />A tabulation of bids and a letter of recommendation from the engineer <br />is attached. <br />RECOMMENDATION. <br />The Department of Utility Services recommends that the Board of <br />County Commissioners approve the award of this bid to the lowest <br />bidder Kenova Construction for $1,226,210.00. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED by Com- <br />missioner Eggert, the Board unanimously awarded <br />Bid for Project #UW87-22-DS Potable Water Main <br />(Kings Highway & Lindsey Road (Contract #1) to <br />the low bidder, Kenova Construction, in the amount <br />of $1,226,210, as recommended by staff. <br />(CONTRACT.
