He felt it almost comes across negative and that <br />it indicates we get the first 64 when actually the state gets <br />most of that. <br />Commissioner Eggert suggested it should be called a "local" <br />1$ tax, and Commissioner Bird felt that would be all right but <br />stressed he would like to add the word "parks" somewhere. <br />It was agreed to leave out the word "additional" and to add <br />"parks" before land acquisitions. <br />Commissioner Bowman commented that the proposed ordinance <br />contained verbiage that could be eliminated, and Attorney Vitunac <br />stated he would appreciate her help to get rid of any excess <br />words. <br />William Koolage, interested citizen and representative of <br />A.A.R.P., had a question in regard to structuring this in 5 year <br />increments. He realized it is proposed to go for the 15 years <br />and wanted to know what assurance the public will be given of <br />having a chance to review this every five years. <br />Commissioner Scurlock felt we need to spread clearly on the <br />Minutes that it is the intent of this County Commission to set a <br />program up for each 5 years, and that in each fourth year a <br />public hearing process would take place. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by Com- <br />missioner Eggert, the Board unanimously declared that <br />it is the full intent of this Commission to adopt budgets <br />for the 14 sales tax in 5 year increments and hold <br />public hearings in the fourth year of each increment. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by Com- <br />missioner Scurlock, the Board unanimously gave <br />conceptual approval to the proposed 14 Sales Tax <br />59 <br />JAN 1 0 1989 <br />BOOK rA;E 09 <br />
