F <br />Commissioner Bird advised that they would start to work on <br />that immediately. <br />Commissioner Bowman was all for parks and recreation, but <br />wanted to see this county start spending some money to save <br />environmentally sensitive lands. She felt strongly that we <br />should acquire some of these lands while they are still <br />available. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION. The Motion was <br />voted on and carried unanimously. <br />AUTHORIZATION FOR APPLICATION FOR ABANDONMENT OF RIGHT-OF-WAY FOR <br />ALLEY BISECTING BLOCK 37 (NEW LIBRARY SITE) <br />The Board reviewed the proposed application for abandonment <br />of the right-of-way, and Administrator Chandler advised that the <br />only action needed today is authorization for the Chairman to <br />sign the application. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Eggert, the Board unanimously approved <br />the application for abandonment of right-of-way for the <br />alley bisecting Block 37, which is the location of the <br />new library site, and authorized the Chairman's <br />signature. <br />DISCUSSION OF LANGUAGE PROPOSED FOR ADVERTISEMENT OF 1 -CENT SALES <br />TAX FOR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS <br />The Board reviewed the following sample of a newspaper <br />advertisement supporting the 1 -cent sales tax: <br />B 14 1989 <br />37 <br />�UO� �OM PAGE 10J <br />
