FED 21 <br />BOOK 7 fr,{ ya <br />individually and that we also encourage the civic associations to <br />take a close look at this. <br />Commissioner Scurlock commented that as one Commissioner, he <br />would support the Governor abolishing much of what the D.O.T does <br />and contracting back with local communities, which he felt would <br />be more cost effective than the present D.O.T operation. He <br />felt the D.O.T was needed to provide that there is continuity <br />between the counties, and while he did not question the ability <br />of those working for the D.O.T, he seriously questioned the <br />inefficiencies of the D.O.T. procedures. Commissioner Scurlock <br />believed the state has constantly shirked their responsibility <br />and pushed it down to the local level. <br />Discussion continued in regard to having a Resolution <br />prepared to send to the State. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED by Com- <br />missioner Scurlock, Commissioner Eggert having <br />left the meeting, the Board unanimously (4-0) <br />directed staff to prepare a Resolution as dis- <br />cussed and bring it back to the Board. <br />There being no further business, on Motion duly made, <br />seconded and carried, the Board adjourned at 12:10 o'clock P.M. <br />ATTEST: <br />Clerk Chairman <br />60 <br />
