FEB 2 8 1989 BOOK 7 r» r 290 <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />The staff of the Department of Utility Services recommends that the <br />Board of County Commissioners approve two possible courses of <br />action: <br />1. That the Utilities Department <br />of the GDU WWTP and pthe startroofeanwlexpansion�S7tToth <br />plant to match the County Master plan. of that <br />2. If the purchase of the GDU plant becomes infeasible, that <br />we be allowed to begin design and construction of a South <br />County plant of our own. <br />Monies for the aforementioned acquisition/construction of a South <br />County WWTP would come from User Fees, Assessments, and the Impact <br />Fee Fund. <br />Utilities Director Terry Pinto explained that the <br />recommendation is to proceed with the negotiations for the <br />acquisition, and Administrator Chandler noted that staff will be <br />bringing a recommendation back to the Board on the financial <br />feasibility. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board unanimously <br />authorized the Utilities Dept. to explore the <br />financial feasibility of the acquisition of the GDU <br />water and wastewater plants and the start of an <br />expansion of that plant to match the County Master <br />Plan, and bring a recommendation back to the Board. <br />INVESTIGATION OF PURCHASE OF GENERAL DEVELOPMENT UTILITIES - <br />SEBASTIAN HIGHLANDS <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated 2/17/89: <br />70 <br />
