APR 2 51989 <br />COOK � V ria 712 <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County believes that it Is <br />inimical to the quality of life which presently exists in <br />this county to give wholesale exemptions to any of the <br />County's land development regulations; and <br />WHEREAS, Senate Bill 251 and companion House Bill 478 <br />would exempt school board siting from local land development <br />regulations; and <br />WHEREAS, school siting has a tremendous impact on the <br />land usesin its vicinity, because of the large number of <br />people who use the facility, the attendant traffic, and the <br />large acreage necessary for the school, <br />*NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that <br />the Board strongly opposes Senate Bill 251 and companion <br />House Bill 478 and respectfully urges the Governor and the <br />Legislature of the State of Florida to likewise oppose these <br />bills.' <br />The resolution was moved for adoption by <br />Commissioner Scurlock and the motion was seconded by <br />Commissioner Eggert <br />vote, the vote was as:follows: <br />Chairman Gary C.
