MAY <br />2 31989 <br />BOOK <br />P,�JE <br />9.01 <br />primarily because that <br />is what the street is labeled <br />in the <br />Highlands itself. <br />There was objection from the audience., and Commissioner <br />Eggert believed it is called 17th Lane in the Highlands, which <br />members of the audience confirmed. <br />Director Davis noted that is not what the records in the <br />Property Appraiser's office show. <br />Discussion continued at length in regard to which road is <br />properly called 17th Street and which 17th Lane, and it was noted <br />that apparently the street signs in the Highlands call the road <br />south of the canal 17th Lane. <br />Commissioner Scurlock suggested that we just build the road <br />and then sign it properly. <br />Mr. Henry understood that, regardless of what the street is <br />called, the intent is to build the road south of the canal for <br />this egress to 27th Avenue, and he informed the Board that the <br />Board of Directors of the Property Owners Association asked him <br />to request that this extension be done as soon as possible. <br />Tom Virt, 2336 17th St. SW, advised that he lives on the <br />road that they are saying they don't know what it is. The street <br />he lives on is the one north of the canal, and that is the one <br />they are planning to close. He wished to know why the county is <br />building a road in the cow pasture and closing his road. <br />Director Davis explained that the existing road north of the <br />canal connects to 27th Avenue, but when the new road is con- <br />structed, it will connect to 27th Avenue only 60' from where the <br />existing road connects, and that intersection spacing is sub- <br />standard; so, one of the two has to be closed. They did pursue <br />at one time the idea of developing the road to the north of the <br />canal, but in Oslo Park Subdivision there is a 30' road R/W north <br />of the canal. When staff began to contact property owners re R/W <br />acquisition, it was found that besides Mrs. Lucinda Eddy, who <br />owns a 40 acre tract of undeveloped land, there are 8 single <br />family lots between 20th Avenue and 23rd, and some have houses on <br />28 <br />
