BACKGROUND: <br />Kenova Construction was the single bidder for the above <br />bid and was awarded to them by the Board of County <br />Cc mni.ssicners on July 5, 1989 for $19,995.00. At this <br />Point In Time Kenova Construction can not keep its com- <br />mitments and has gone out of business. <br />2. ANALYSIS: <br />Due to "Time is of the Essence" the County has negotiated <br />With Ted Myers Construction for $22,645.70. for the <br />relocation of Underground Utilities. <br />.,,.3. FUNDING: <br />Monies for this project will come frau The North County <br />Construction Funds, Site Improvements, which has a Budget <br />of $91,000.00. <br />4;*'. RECXNIMIDATICN: <br />To reject Kenova Construction Corporation as non-responsive <br />bidder and award Fixed Contract in the amount of _$22,645.70 <br />to the responsible bidder Ted Myers. <br />Commissioner Bird wished to know why the utilities need to <br />be moved, and Director Dean explained that they run right under <br />the building and must be moved. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by Com- <br />missioner Bird, the Board unanimously rejected Kenova <br />Construction Corporation as a non-responsive bidder <br />and awarded a Fixed Contract in the amount of $22,645.70 <br />to the responsible bidder, Ted Myers Contracting Co., as <br />recommended by staff. <br />50 <br />
