CHANDLER <br />COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR <br />FROM: TERRANCE G. PINTO <br />DIRECTOR OF UTILITY SE� I <br />SUBJECT: SEWER LATERAL MARKER LOCATOR FOR THE <br />GIFFORD SEWER PROJECT <br />IRC PROJECT NO. US -85 -07 -CCS <br />PREPARED AND STAFFED BY: JOHN FREDERICK LANG <br />ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIA IST <br />DEPARTMENT OF UTILIT SERVICES <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Gifford Sewer Project employed ScotchMark Markers, a 3M product, <br />to delineate the end of each sewer lateral. The markers require a <br />special locator for detection purposes. Two brands of locators were <br />obtained for testing. <br />ANALYSIS <br />The 3M locator is the less expensive of the two and performed best <br />in our tests. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />The Department of Utility Services recommends that the Board of <br />County Commissioners authorize the purchase of a 3M locator for a <br />price of $650.00. The funding for this acquisition is to come from <br />the Contingency Fund for the Gifford Sewer Project. <br />48 <br />
