MISCELLANEOUS INTERSECTION, PHASE III - ADDITIONAL SERVICES <br />(SOUTH GIFFORD ROAD AT 43RD AVE.) <br />The Board reviewed the following memo from Public Works <br />Director Davis: <br />TO: James Chandler <br />County Administrator <br />FROM: James W. Davis, P.E. <br />Public Works Director <br />SUBJECT: Miscellaneous Intersection Phase III - Additional <br />Services - 41st Street <br />(South Gifford Road at 43rd Ave) <br />::DATE: <br />October 31, 1989 <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />During the design of signalization and roadway widening <br />improvements at the 43rd Ave/41st Street intersection, staff is <br />of the opinion that the proposed three -lane widening along the <br />east approach of the intersection should be extended further east <br />-to the western driveway of the new Jail/Sheriff's Complex. The' <br />result would be extending the three -lane roadway approximately <br />:'.,400' to the east. The consultant, Lloyd and Associates, has <br />agreed to extend the design for an additional fee of $2,267.50. <br />iALTERNATIVES.AND ANALYSIS <br />„The alternatives presented include: <br />Alternative No. 3, <br />;:Include the easterly extension of the three lane <br />#'4 �°:improvements in the project and authorize additional <br />Okft�w?+•r��wengineering services in the amount of $2,267.50. <br />r"5'., : r_a:.... <br />1-„ This alternative will provide for safe emergency vehicle <br />ingress/egress to the Jail/Sheriff's Complex and segregate <br />emergency vehicles from through traffic. <br />s'Alternative No. 2 , <br />Deny authorization of the additional services and not extend <br />the three -lane section through the west driveway of the <br />public safety complex. <br />`RECOMMENDATION AND FUNDING <br />-It is recommend that Alternative No. 1 be approved whereby <br />4t.: additional Engineering design services with Lloyd and Associates, <br />.Inc. are authorized at a cost of $2,267.50. Funding to be from <br />OFund 105-214, Gifford Road Improvement Fund. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED by Commis- <br />sioner Scurlock, the Board unanimously (4-0) approved <br />Alternative No. 1 authorizing additional engineering <br />design services with Lloyd & Assoc., Inc., at a cost <br />of $2,267.50, as recommended by staff. <br />NOV 7 1989 <br />57 <br />Q L F"1E: t <br />
