"SONNY" DEAN, DIRECTOR <br />DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES <br />PURCHASE OF HEAVY DUTY TRUCK - SOLID WASTE <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Solid Waste District has budgeted a Heavy Duty Refuse Truck to <br />haul roll -off containers on. This truck requires a special hoist to <br />,accommodate the forty yard containers used in the solid waste <br />transfer system. <br />The truck as specified is listed for purchase on the State Contract <br />without the required hoist. In fact, the vendor on this contract is <br />the same company that a similar truck was purchased from last fiscal <br />year. It has been the policy to purchase the truck and hoist as one <br />::unit, to eliminate problems associated with hoist installation. <br />ANALYSIS: <br />';Heintzelman's _ Truck Center in Orlando, :_State Contract ,Vendor <br />: <br />agreed to sell us the truck at -contract-price`sand=winsta11t2 <br />at the same price as sold to us last fiscal year. The total price of, <br />":this unit is $72,356, which is the amount paid for the last unit. <br />,r.Since.-this brand hoist is the type most used in the Solid Waste <br />District, and we can interchange parts from one unit to-the•other,--it <br />would be most desirable to accept Heintzelman's offer. <br />FUNDING: <br />• <br />The Solid Waste District has budgeted $70,000 in the 1989-90 budget <br />for purchase of this equipment. The Budget Director has indicated <br />there are sufficient funds in the account to cover this overage. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />In view of the above, staff recommends purchase of the Solid Waste <br />Refuse Truck from Heintzelman's Truck Center at a price of $72,356. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by Com- <br />missioner Eggert, the Board unanimously authorized <br />the purchase of the Solid Waste Refuse Truck from <br />Heintzelman's Truck Center at a price of $72,356, as <br />recommended by staff. <br />10 <br />
