PINTO <br />DIRECTOR OF UTILITY SERVICES <br />SUBJECT: REVISIONS TO INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />WATER AND WASTEWATER UTILITY STANDARDS <br />PREPARED AND STAFFED BY: SCOTT C. DOSCHER SC i <br />PRIVATE PROJECTS ENGINEER <br />DEPARTMENT OF UTILITY SERVICES <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Indian River County Department of Utility Services Water and <br />Wastewater Utility Standards have been revised. Periodic revision <br />of standards is necessary to keep pace with industry standards, <br />County growth, and advances in engineering design. <br />ANALYSIS <br />The following significant changes were made to the specifications <br />1. The removal of a redundant gate valve on Detail W-7. <br />2. The removal of the bypass from the backflow preventer on <br />Detail W-9. <br />3. An outside drop has been added to the force main tie-in on <br />Detail S-12. <br />4. The notes for Detail M-3 have been rewritten. <br />5. Various details have been revised to reflect a minimum 36" <br />cover for all pipes. <br />6. Section 4, has been rewritten to allow polyethylene water <br />services. <br />7. Section 9, trailer mounted diesel generator, has been <br />eliminated. <br />8. Section 14, assessment procedures, has been eliminated and <br />replaced with submittal, permitting, and acceptance <br />procedures for private development projects. <br />Other changes were to correct typographical errors or wording in the <br />text. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />The Department of Utility Services recommends that the Board of <br />County Commissioners approve the. adoption of the Utility Standards <br />on the consent agenda. <br />10 <br />r <br />L <br />
