January 2, 1990 <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County <br />Florida, met in Regular Session at the County Commission <br />Chambers, 1840 25th Street, Vero Beach, Florida, on Tuesday, <br />January 2, 1990, at 9:00 o'clock A.M. Present were Gary C. <br />Wheeler, Chairman; Carolyn K. Eggert, Vice Chairman; Richard N. <br />Bird; Margaret C. Bowman; and Don C. Scurlock, Jr. Also present <br />were James E. Chandler, County Administrator; Charles P. Vitunac, <br />Attorney to the Board of County Commissioners; Joseph Baird, OMB <br />Director; and Barbara Bonnah, Deputy Clerk. <br />The Cha 1 rman ca I I ed the meet i ng—to <br />Dr. John Simon of First Methodist Church gave the <br />invocation, and Chairman Wheeler led the Pledge of Allegiance to <br />the Flag. <br />ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN AND VICE CHAIRMAN <br />Chairman Wheeler announced that today is the annual <br />organizational meeting of the Board and reviewed the procedures <br />to be followed in electing new Commission officers. Before <br />opening the floor to nominations for Chairman, he wished to thank <br />his fellow Commissioners for allowing him the privilege to serve <br />as their Chairman this past year, and also wished to thank staff <br />for being so helpful and cooperative. <br />Chairman Wheeler opened the floor to nominations for <br />Chairman, and placed the name of Commissioner Eggert in <br />nomination.
