r <br />JAN 2 1990 <br />BOOK <br />not always have enough of a commanding presence in Tallahassee to <br />get some of these grants Therefore, I ask the Board of County <br />Commissioners to issue a resolution of support to be given to our <br />Legislative Delegation and sent to Tallahassee for: <br />1. Continued funding of library grants in all facets of <br />the library services. <br />2. The approval of one of the major grant applications <br />sent by the Center for the Arts. <br />3. The recognition that a small county can have <br />outstanding cultural offerings and desires to have <br />grant applications for theater, music, art and dance <br />supported and given equal consideration to other <br />counties. <br />Chairman Eggert explained that every year the State seems to <br />want to dive into the library grants, and Indian River County has <br />some good ones'that she would like to see maintained. The Center <br />of the Arts <br />has <br />made application for two major <br />grants <br />that we <br />hope we can <br />do <br />something with, and she wished <br />to send <br />a <br />Resolution to the "powers that be" in Tallahassee and to the <br />Legislative Delegation supporting the three items listed above, <br />with big emphas-i s---o-n---i te-m- 3. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board unanimously adopted <br />Resolution 90-2, to the Governor and Cabinet of the <br />State of Florida and to the Legislative Delegation of <br />Indian River County in support of funding certain <br />library and cultural activities. <br />70 <br />
