MASCO • <br />DIVISION OF PURCHASING <br />SUBJECT: CATCH BASINS AND STORM WATER INLETS <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY BID #90-11 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On request from the Road and Bridge Division the subject bid was <br />properly advertised and fourteen (14) invitations to bid were sent <br />out. On November 29, 1989 bids were received with three (3) vendors <br />submitting proposals for the commodity. <br />ANALYSIS: <br />Staff has reviewed the submittals to ascertain adherence to all <br />specifications. O'Malley Precast was the low bidder that met all <br />requirements for Type "C" structures at $350.00 each. O'Malley <br />Precast was the low bidder that met all specifications for Type -P5 <br />structures at $750.00 each. Taylor Preoast and Standard Precast did <br />not include the top cover for the Type P5. Installation would <br />require a top cover to be poured in place by County work crews. This <br />additional cost would exceed O'Malley's price which includes the top <br />cover. (See Public Works Memorandum). <br />FUNDING: <br />Monies for this purchase will come from Road and Bridge Accounts for <br />Pipe and Culvert ($55,000.00) and *Petition- Paving/operatincT'Sur'it"ies. <br />($538,000.00). <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />Staff recommends the award of a one year OPEN END CONTRACT to <br />O'Malley Precast, Inc. with an estimated value of $15,000.00. Also, <br />authorize Purchasing to renew the contract for one additional year <br />subject to satisfactory performance, zero cost increase, vendor <br />acceptance and determination that renewal is in the best interest of <br />the County. The initial contract period shall begin on the date of <br />award. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by Com- <br />missioner Wheeler, the Board unanimously awarded Bid <br />#90-11 for Catch Basins E Storm Water Inlets to <br />the low bidder meeting specifications, O'Malley <br />Precast, Inc., and authorized execution of a contract <br />as recommended by staff and per the following Bid <br />Tabulation: <br />3 �= .r <br />,-JAW 0 1990 80. t' �•`u[ °�•��� <br />
