r <br />BOOK 79 Pt1Ut 10,"t <br />i <br />District 6: Victor Minotty <br />Virgil Tetsworth <br />Richard Woodard <br />District 8: %eorge Beuttell <br />Juliana Young <br />District 9: William Kaser <br />City of Vero Beach recommends that <br />the handicapped be represented on <br />the County's Transportation Planning Comm. <br />Chairman Eggert advised that George Walters has withdrawn as <br />the Indian River Shores alternate, and understood that we still <br />have not received people from the City of Vero Beach, which may <br />be because they are waiting for the March election. <br />Commissioner Wheeler noted the City of Vero Beach's <br />recommendation that the handicapped be represented on the TPC, <br />and while he had no objection to a handicapped person being on <br />this committee or any other committee, he didn't understand what <br />specific expertise a handicapped person would have in <br />transportation matters. <br />Chairman Eggert felt their concern is in ample parking <br />spaces and curb cuts, but Commissioner Wheeler felt that our site <br />plan requirements take care of those items. <br />Commissioner Scurlock felt it would be beneficial to have <br />the handicapped represented when we become more sophisticated and <br />are considering the alternatives of increasing lanes or going <br />into mass transit. <br />Commissioner Wheeler emphasized that this doesn't preclude a <br />handicapped person from applying for representation from a <br />specific district, because they are more than welcomed to be <br />members of the committee. <br />Commissioner Bowman advised that we need to select one <br />representative each from Districts 6, 8 and 9. <br />97 <br />
