OBJECTIVE 5 BLIGHT REMOVAL <br />BOOK 9 FACE 200 <br />Indian River County will reduce the estimated 800-1000 sub -- <br />standard housing units by 50% by 1995. - NO COMMENT <br />OBJECTIVE 6 SPECIAL HOUSING NEEDS <br />Indian River County will continue to ensure that sites are <br />available for group homes and care facilities in residential <br />areas to accommodate an additional 300 residents by 1995. <br />- NO COMMENT <br />OBJECTIVE 7 FARMIIVORKER HOUSING <br />Indian River County shall maintain the number of existing <br />farmworker housing units and increase the quality of the units. <br />POLICY 7.3: The county shall require permanent housing for <br />farmworker households be located in areas which contain infra- <br />structure necessary for safe and sanitary habitation and in <br />proximity of other public services and facilities. <br />Seasonal workers housing may be provided as an accessory on-site <br />use in agricultural areas. This housing will be required to <br />provide on-site infrastructure as required. - NO COMMENT <br />OBJECTIVE 8 HISTORIC HOUSING <br />Indian River County will increase the percentage of significant <br />older buildings in excellent or good condition from 72% to 90o by <br />1995. <br />Chairman Eggert believed we talked about dwelling units, not <br />buildings, and Director Keating advised that staff can make that <br />change. That is really what the intent is. <br />OBJECTIVE 9 INTERGOVERNMENTAL COORDINATION <br />By 1991, Indian River County will have interlocal agreements with <br />the municipalities to establish housing assistance and housing <br />programs for affordable housing for the 10% of the population <br />which is in need of housing assistance. - NO COMMENT <br />OBJECTIVE 10 RELOCATION HOUSING <br />Indian River County will ensure that relocation housing is <br />available to persons displaced by public action or activities. <br />POLICY 10.1: The County Housing Authority shall have <br />responsibility to ensure that persons displaced by demoli- <br />tion of substandard housing are relocated to housing which <br />meets the Standard Housing Code. <br />POLICY 10.2: The Board of County Commissioners shall <br />provide funding to the Housing Authority on an emergency <br />basis to ensure that displaced households are guaranteed <br />adequate housing. <br />102 <br />
