The new ambulance approved for purchase by the Board on January <br />23, 1990, will not be delivered until late March. If approval is <br />given to purchase the chassis and remount the modular box on a sole <br />source/minimum turnaround time basis, it will provide some relief <br />to the service in that both vehicles will be received and placed <br />into service at approximately the same time. This will allow for <br />some intense preventative maintenance to be performed on other EMS <br />vehicles to ensure transport reliability for possible critical <br />patients. An assessment will be made at.that time to determine <br />which vehicles should be retired. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff respectfully recommends that the Board of County <br />Commissioners waive bids for purchase on the basis of sole source <br />and approve the purchase of the ambulance chassis for $16,600 from <br />Don Reid Ford. Since time is of the essence to place this <br />emergency vehicle into service and National Ambulance Rebuilders <br />has provided the best price and .turnaround time, staff would <br />further recommend that the Board authorize staff to deliver the <br />chassis to the company for remounting of the Type III modular box <br />at a price of $10,000 for a total price of $26,600. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Wheeler, the Board unanimously approved <br />staff's recommendation for the purchase of the <br />ambulance chassis and the remounting of a Type III <br />modular box, as set out in the above memo. <br />APPROVAL OF FUNDING TO PURCHASE APPROVED_ TELECOMMUNICATION DEVICE <br />FOR THE DEAF (TDD) - BUDGET �AMENDMENT _035 <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated 2/13/90: <br />TO: Board of County.Commissioners <br />THROUGH: James Chandler <br />County Ad inistrator <br />FROM: Doug Wrigh Director <br />Emergency Management Services <br />DATE: February 13, 1990 <br />SUBJECT: Approval of Funding to Purchase Approved <br />Telecommunication Device for the Deaf (TDD) <br />It is respectfully requested that the information contained herein <br />be given formal consideration by the Board of County Commissioners <br />at the next regular scheduled meeting. <br />556' <br />lii .
