will have made their comments; and everything will be specific. <br />Even though there are some conservation issues and some other <br />drainage issues, there will be no need to amend the COMP Plan <br />because those items will be accommodated in the applicant's D.O. <br />He again reviewed staff recommendation, reiterating that staff is <br />not now recommending that we take another 50 acres out of the <br />node because of the increase in commercial. <br />Commissioner Wheeler inquired about the neighborhood that <br />would be completely engulfed by the proposed project, and <br />Director Keating advised that several residents spoke at the P6Z <br />public hearing, and he believed their primary concern was <br />drainage and buffers. <br />Commissioner Bowman commented that she would rather see a <br />regional mall than a hodge-podge of mini malls, hot dog stands, <br />and what not. <br />Chairman Eggert asked if the applicant wished to speak. <br />Attorney William J. Stewart came before the Board <br />representing the applicant and advised that their position very <br />briefly is that they do support the recommendation of the <br />Planning staff with the understanding that the 26 acres of <br />wetland can be used for drainage and retention as currently <br />zoned. He noted that this has been a complicated effort, and he <br />felt that the Planning staff has worked well with them. He <br />confirmed that they are having trouble coordinating the DRI <br />process with the Comprehensive Plan change, but believed that all <br />are working towards the end of getting to where all this can be <br />considered and resolved simultaneously. He assured the Board <br />that they are working to get the DRI into a sufficiency status, <br />and believed the major issue now is traffic, along with some <br />economic issues. He then introduced Dick Greco, a vice president <br />of the DeBartolo Corporation. <br />Mr. Greco came before the Board and noted that reference has <br />been made to the concerns of people who live on the golf course <br />abutting 66th Avenue.
