WHITE <br />FRANCHISE COORDINATOR <br />DEPARTMENT OF UTILITY SERVICES <br />SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING HARRIS SANITATION <br />RESIDENTIAL RATE INCREASE AND INCREASE IN FRANCHISE <br />FEES FROM ONE PERCENT TO SIX PERCENT ANNUALLY <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Harris Sanitation, Inc., is currently seeking a residential rate <br />increase, in order to offset rising costs and insure a high quality of <br />service for their customers. In addition, the Department of Utility <br />Services deems it necessary to increase their franchise fees from a <br />rate of to to a rate of 6% annually. <br />ANALYSIS: <br />In accordance with Section 14 of Resolution No. 82-50 between Indian <br />River County and Harris Sanitation, any request for a rate increase by <br />Harris Sanitation must be accompanied by a written justification and <br />proposed schedule of rates to be charged.
