APPROVAL OF FY -90 EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ASSISTANCE (EMA) AGREEMENT <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated 3/19/90: <br />TO: James Chandler <br />County Administrator <br />THROUGH: Doug WrightbDirector <br />Emergency Management Services <br />FROM: John King, Deputy Director -3t <br />Emergency Management Services <br />DATE: March 19, 1990 <br />SUBJECT: Approval of FY -90 Emergency Management <br />Assistance (EMA) Agreement <br />It is respectfully requested that the information contained <br />herein be given formal consideration by the Board of County <br />Commissioners at the next scheduled meeting. <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS: <br />The Indian River County Department of Emergency Management <br />Services has received the attached FY -90 Emergency Management <br />Assistance Agreement (EMA) from the Federal Emergency Management <br />Agency through the Department of Community Affairs in the amount <br />of $27,183.09. The Department of Emergency Management Services <br />has participated in the EMA program for several years and <br />according to the contract, these funds are matched by the County <br />government. <br />The funds are to be utilized to complete the Scope of Work <br />contained in the agreement within the allowed time frames. Due <br />to a delay at the Department of Community Affairs, we are <br />receiving the proposed funding later than usual in terms of the <br />fiscal year. Even though the delay has placed us near the end of <br />the second quarter, we are still eligible to receive all proposed <br />funding allowable within the agreement. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS: <br />The allocation of funds is based on monitoring reports completed <br />by the Department of Community Affairs. During the last program <br />analysis and evaluation, the Department of Emergency Management <br />Services received the maximum allowable score. <br />Acceptance and approval of this agreement will allow this <br />department to continue to improve and expand the current program. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends approval of the FY -90 Emergency Management <br />Assistance Agreement and requests the Board of County <br />Commissioners authorize the Chairperson to execute the <br />appropriate documents to secure the funding of $27,183.09 as <br />proposed. <br />39 <br />APR 1990 <br />BOOK. 9 rktuE 760 <br />J <br />
