PROCLAMATION <br />DESIGNATING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER, 2014, AS <br />NATIONAL ARTS AND HUMANITIES MONTH <br />WHEREAS, the month of October has been recognized as National Arts and <br />Humanities Month by thousands of arts and cultural organizations, communities and states <br />across the country, as well as by the White House and Congress for more than two <br />decades; and <br />WHEREAS, the arts and humanities embody much of the accumulated wisdom, <br />intellect and imagination of humankind; and <br />WHEREAS, the arts and humanities play a unique role in the lives of our families, our <br />communities and our country; and <br />WHEREAS, the cultural arts industry also strengthens our local economy by producing <br />$346 million in goods and services, $3.6 million in Florida Sales Tax, $500,000 in Indian River <br />County Sales Tax, and $11.8 million in Indian River County Property tax in total economic <br />activity annually and by supporting the full-time equivalent of 1,769 jobs earning $59 million. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS, INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA that the month of October, 2014, <br />be designated as NATIONAL ARTS AND HUMANITIES MONTH in Indian River County <br />and call upon our citizens to celebrate and promote the arts and culture in our nation and to <br />specifically encourage the greater participation by those said citizens in taking action for the <br />arts and humanities in their towns and cities. <br />Adopted this 14th day of October, 2014. <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, <br />IN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />j,&,/ <br />Peter D.
