Administrator Baird elaborated on MWI's proposed expansion plans, which included <br />constructing an additional building and hiring more staff. <br />Discussion continued, with input from Himanshu Mehta, Managing Director, Solid <br />Waste Disposal District, regarding MWI's future plans. <br />Administrator Baird recommended renewing the lease for 5 years, and reevaluating if and <br />when MWI comes forward with concrete plans. <br />Attorney Polackwich agreed that it made no sense to approve an extension for an <br />expansion that may not materialize. <br />Director of Utilities Erik Olson addressed Commissioner O'Bryan's query on what <br />happens at the conclusion of the fifteen -year lease period if MWI is granted their request. <br />Chairman Solari suggesting authorizing a 5 -year lease with the flexibility for amendment <br />should circumstances dictate. <br />August 16, 2011 <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner O'Bryan, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Davis, the Board unanimously <br />authorized staff to authorize a 5 -year extension of the <br />lease with MWI Corporation, with the flexibility to do <br />something else should the applicant present more concrete <br />plans for expansion. <br />3 <br />335 <br />
