the City that her Office can assist the City with programming voting machines, printing ballots, <br /> w,w tabulating ballots,and with other administrative aspects of the referendum; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF VERO BEACH,FLORIDA,THAT: <br /> Section 1. The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby found true and correct and are <br /> adopted as findings of the City Council of the City of Vero Beach, Florida. <br /> Section 2. The City Council of the City of Vero Beach, Florida, hereby authorizes the City's <br /> administrative Staff to develop, in consultation and cooperation with the Indian River County <br /> Supervisor of Elections, a proposed ordinance setting forth a definitive, detailed proposal for <br /> conducting a referendum of the City's named retail electric customers, with the ballot question <br /> being whether each customer desires the City to establish a utility authority to operate the <br /> business of the City's electric utility system. The City Council further authorizes Staff to bring <br /> such definitive,detailed ordinance before the City Council no later than the first Council meeting <br /> in March 2015. <br /> Section 3. The City Council further authorizes the Staff to include in the proposed ordinance the <br /> requirement that the referendum is to be held no later than the date of the next City general <br /> election, which is November 3, 2015, and to work cooperatively with representatives of the <br /> Town of Indian River Shores and Indian River County, and with other interested customers, to <br /> determine whether those customers would desire that the referendum be held at a special election <br /> earlier than November 3,2015. <br /> Section 4. The City Clerk is directed to provide a certified copy of this Resolution to Florida <br /> State Senators Thad Altman and Joe Negron;Florida State Representatives Debbie Mayfield and <br /> Gayle B. Harrell; the Mayor and Town Council of the Town of Indian River Shores; and the <br /> Chairman and Commissioners of the Indian River County Board of County Commissioners. <br /> Section 5.
