LAWS OF FLORIDA 2185 <br /> under this Act. And no obligation or contract of said City shall <br /> be impaired by'this change, and all obligations, debts, bonds, time <br /> warrants, notes and other lawful obligations of every kind, nature <br /> or description heretofore incurred, executed, issued or sold by said <br /> City of Vero Beach shall be, and the same are, hereby declared to <br /> be the valid and binding obligations of the City of Vero Beach <br /> created under this Act. <br /> Section 5. All ordinances, resolutions, rules and regulations now <br /> in force in the City of Vero Beach, not in conflict with the pro- <br /> visions of this Act or the Constitution of the United States or of <br /> the State of Florida, shall remain of full force and effect until re- <br /> scinded, repealed or amended by the City of Vero Beach created <br /> under this Act. And all laws now in force or that may hereafter <br /> be enacted by the Legislature of the State for the benefit and pro- <br /> tection of cities and towns, which may not conflict with the pro- <br /> visions of this Act, shall enure to and be applicable to the City of <br /> Vero Beach. <br /> Section 6. All contracts entered into by the City of Vero Beach, <br /> and all pending legal proceedings of every kind and character, <br /> either by or against the City of Vero Beach, or in which the City <br /> of Vero Beach is interested, instituted prior to the passage of this <br /> rte., Act, and all pending proceedings for public work or improvements <br /> by the City of Vero Beach, of every kind and character, whether <br /> or not the same shall result in the levying of general or special taxes <br /> or assessments, or the issuance of warrants or eertifleates of indebt- <br /> edness or bonds or notes, shall continue in full force and effect and <br /> shall not be affected in any manner by the provisions of this Act. <br /> Section 7. No vested right or rights acquired or held by any <br /> individual or corporation under and by virtue of the existing char- <br /> ter, ordinances, resolutions, rules, regulations and contracts of the <br /> City of Vero Beach shall be abridged, nullified or abolished by this <br /> charter. <br /> Section 8. The corporate authority of said City shall be vested in <br /> a Mayor, City Council, Clerk, Tax Collector, Tax Assessor, Treas- <br /> urer, Marshal .and Registration Officer; and the City Council is <br /> hereby authorized and empowered to create, by ordinance, such <br /> other and additional officers, with such powers and duties, as it <br /> deems advisable. The City Council is hereby authorized and em- <br /> powered to abolish the office of City Treasurer of said City pro- <br /> ' <br /> vided the same shall not become effective until after the expiration <br /> of the term of office of the present incumbent. <br /> i... <br /> I �� <br />
