2186 LAWS OF FLORIDA <br /> Section 9. The Mayor and the members of the City Council shall <br /> be elected by the qualified voter's of said City. The Clerk, Tax Col- <br /> lector, Tax Assessor, Treasurer, Marshal, Registration Officer, and <br /> any other officers hereafter created, when the City Council sliall <br /> not otherwise provide, shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to <br /> confirmation by the City Council. <br /> Section 10. The City Council may provide by ordinance for the <br /> holding by one or more persons of the offices of Tax Assessor, Tax <br /> Collector, Clerk, Treasurer and Registration Officer. <br /> Section 11. Any person, male or female, who has reached the <br /> age of twenty-one years and is a citizen of the State of Florida and <br /> who has resided in the County six months and in the City of Vero <br /> Beach for thirty days and who is registered as a voter on the City <br /> Registration Book, sliall be qualified to hold any office in said City, <br /> and to vote in all City ]flections, except bond elections, when the <br /> qualifications shall be hereinafter provided. The payment of poll <br /> tax shall not be required as a qualification for voting at elections <br /> in said City. <br /> Section 12. No person shall be eligible to hold office in said City <br /> unless lie or she be a qualified voter in said City. <br /> Section.13. The regular annual election for the elective officers <br /> .w.. of the City of Vero Beach shall be held on the second Tuesday in <br /> December of each year, and the present officers of the City of Vero <br /> Beach, whether elected or appointed, sliall retain the same offices <br /> under the City hereby created for the term for which they were <br /> elected or appointed and until their successors are elected or ap- <br /> pointed and qualified. Provided, however, that the City Council <br /> shall have the power by ordinance to lay off the City of Vero <br /> Beach into wards not to exceed five in number and to provide for <br /> the election of a Councilman from eiich ward to be elected either-by <br /> the qualified electors of the City at large or by the qualified electors <br /> iri each ward, as the City Council may determine. <br /> At the regular annual election to be held in the City of Vero <br /> Beach on the second Tuesday in December, 1929, there shall be <br /> elected three members of the City Council for the term of two years; <br /> at the next City election held on the second Tuesday in December, <br /> 1930, two members of the City Council shall be elected for the term <br /> of two years; and thereafter members of the City Council shall be <br /> elected for the term of two years each; so that two members are <br /> elected at one annual election, and three members are elected at the <br /> next annual election, but each for the term of two years and until <br /> their successors are elected and qualified, <br /> 103 <br />
