Marcie Nolan, Becker & Poliakoff Law Firm <br /> Joe Idlette, 4570 57th Avenue <br /> Dan Lamson, 737 Timber Ridge Trail, representing the Indian River Neighborhood <br /> Association <br /> Penny Chandler, Indian River County Chamber of Commerce <br /> The following individuals spoke in opposition to staff s recommendation to create <br /> special WGIC overlay regulations, and discussed particular areas of concerns: <br /> Kathleen Jaskolski, 5211 Eleuthra Circle, voiced health and safety concerns about <br /> bringing an additional concrete processing plant of a demolition debris plant into West Gifford. <br /> She mentioned that three concrete processing plants are already in the neighborhood, and asked <br /> the Board to request that the Health Department conduct a study of the current air quality, as well <br /> as the potential effects on the environment if another concrete plant comes in. <br /> Althea McKenzie, 2405 16th Avenue, aired concerns about the high voltage power lines <br /> and the cellular tower that are in West Gifford; the contaminated Gifford Landfill; and the <br /> proposal to add additional industries which might add more pollutants into the community. <br /> William Mosley, Gifford Economic Development Council, expressed concerns about <br /> health and safety, and advocated that the air quality be tested every six months. He noted that <br /> although he is against this measure, if it does pass, there should be site inspections to the <br /> concrete batch plants to make sure they are in compliance with regulations. <br /> The following individuals offered comments that were not in favor or against the <br /> proposed regulations. <br /> Jeff Thompson, Seville Avenue, voiced concerns about possible unintended <br /> consequences of the proposed Ordinance, and asked the Board to support helping the junk yard <br /> owners with the financial burden of building the walls. <br /> May 13, 2014 3 <br /> 6 <br />
