5C <br />PROCLAMATION <br />HONORING L.E. "BUD" SPENCER ON HIS RETIREMENT FROM <br />THE INDIAN RIVER COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE <br />WHEREAS, Bud Spencer is retiring from the Indian River County Sheriff's Office effective <br />August 31, 2014; and <br />WHEREAS, Bud Spencer was hired as a Deputy Sheriff at the Indian River County Sheriffs <br />Office by Sheriff Sam T. Joyce on July 15, 1980; and <br />WHEREAS, Bud Spencer began his career with the Indian River County Sheriff's Office as a <br />Road Patrol Deputy and in 1985 he was promoted to Corporal in Road Patrol. He transferred to the <br />Training Unit in 1987 and in 1989, he was promoted to Lieutenant over Personnel Services which <br />included Human Resources, Accreditation and Training. In 2001, he was placed in charge of the <br />Special Operations Section including Ranch and Grove, Marine Enforcement and Aviation. Then in <br />2004, he was promoted to Deputy Division Commander in Uniform Patrol. Bud achieved the rank of <br />Captain in 2007 where he commanded the Information Services Division. In 2009, he was <br />transferred to the Judicial and Staff Services Division. In 2010, Bud was appointed Chief Deputy by <br />Sheriff Deryl Loar; and <br />WHEREAS, Bud Spencer is the longest serving member of the Indian River County Sheriffs <br />Office with 34 years of service; and <br />WHEREAS, Bud Spencer has served Indian River County with honor and distinction. He has <br />been dedicated to his work and greatly appreciated by those who have had the honor of serving with <br />him. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the Board acknowledges the <br />contributions that Bud Spencer has made to the citizens of Indian River County during his successful <br />34 year law enforcement career and wish him a happy and prosperous retirement. <br />Duly adopted this 19th day of August, 2014 <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />INDIAN RIV,R COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />Peter_f.
