Baird, County Administrator <br />From: Vincent Burke, P.E., Director of Utility Services <br />Prepared By: Cindy Corrente, Utilities Finance Manager(' <br />Subject: <br />Elimination of the Rate Equalization Charge in the Non -Unincorporated <br />areas of Indian River County <br />DESCRIPTIONS AND CONDITIONS: <br />On March 4, 2014, The Board of County Commissioners (BCC) adopted Resolution 2014-020 which <br />eliminated the rate equalization charge on water and sewer bills for customers in the non - <br />unincorporated areas of the County. <br />ANALYSIS: <br />In 1995, the BCC adopted Resolution 95-16 which created a rate equalization charge of 6%, being <br />comparable to the franchise fee that was charged to water and sewer customers in the unincorporated <br />areas of the County, to be added to the total water and sewer charges in the non -unincorporated areas <br />of the County. On March 4, 2014, the BCC voted to approve Resolution 2014-020 which eliminated this <br />rate equalization charge. The effective date of this change is October 1, 2014.
