1 <br />PROCLAMATION <br />HONORING GARR Y HUGHES ON HIS RETIREMENT FROM <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />DEPARTMENT OF EMERGENCY SERVICES/FIRE RESCUE <br />WHEREAS, Garry Hughes retired from Indian River County effective September 13, <br />2014; and <br />WHEREAS, Garry Hughes began his career as a volunteer firefighter with Indian <br />River County Volunteer Fire Department in 1980. He was hired on April 10, 1981, as <br />a Firefighter with South Indian River County Fire District. On February 6, 1983, he <br />became an EMT. He was promoted to an Engineer on July 7, 1984. On September 11, <br />1992, he became a Fire Lieutenant with Indian River County Fire Rescue. He <br />continued in this capacity until his retirement; and <br />WHEREAS, Garry Hughes has served this County and the Public with distinction and <br />selflessness. During his thirty-three years of service, he was dedicated and his work <br />was greatly appreciated by the employer, citizens, and co-workers alike; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the Board <br />applauds Garry Hughes' efforts on behalf of the County, and the Board wishes to <br />express their appreciation for the dedicated service he has given to Indian River <br />County for the last thirty-three years; and <br />BE IT FURTHER PROCLAIMED that the Board of County Commissioners and staff <br />extend heartfelt wishes for success in his future endeavors. <br />Adopted this 23rd day of September 2014. <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />Peter D.
