Form SHIP AR/2009 <br />67-37.008(3)(f), F.A.C. <br />Effective Date: 1112009 <br />The county, in conjunction with financial institutions, conducts a homebuyers' educational workshop program for <br />all applicants who request downpaymenticlosing cost assistance (see attachments regarding homebuyers' <br />education program) <br />Consumer Credit Counseling provides assistance to applicants through lenders and through the homebuyers' <br />educational workshops <br />The Indian River County Council on Aging provides various services to elderly and handicapped individuals <br />including housing assistance. <br />The Housing Authority and Economic Opportunity Council provide housing assistance to qualified households. <br />County staff provide one on one assistance to applicants for completing SHIP applications, resolving credit <br />problems, referring applicants to appropriate financial institutions for acquiring first mortgages, and providing <br />other assistance as needed. <br />County SHIP staff, in conjunction with local financial institutions, non-profit organizations, HUD staff, and others, <br />conducts information workshops in the Gifford area. Wabasso area, and Oslo area of the county which have a <br />high percentage of minorities and low income households. <br />Other Accomplishments <br />By end of June 2014, the Indian River County had approved 26 loans with FY 2011-12 funding. In administring <br />the program, SHIP staff held several meetings, placed newspaper advertisements and maintained county <br />website.Because of these efforts, The SHIP program is well known to the public, and there are many more <br />eligible applicants than the county can assist with available SHIP funds.Photocopies of success stories, <br />newspaper articles, and thank -you notes have already been sent to the Florida Housing Coalition. <br />Availability for Public Inspection and Comments <br />Annual reports provided to the public through AHAC, Affordable Housing Partnership Group, county planning <br />division, municipalities within the county,and the county website. <br />Default and Foreclosure <br />Mortgage Foreclosures <br />A.
