Half -Cent Sales Tax <br />Fund 004 <br />Revenue Manual <br />MSTU Fund <br />REVENUE The Half -Cent Sales Tax program began in 1982 and generates the largest amount of <br />DESCRIPTION: revenue for local governments from state -shared revenue sources. The program's <br />primary purpose is to provide relief from ad valorem and utility taxes in addition to <br />providing counties and municipalities with revenues for local programs. <br />LEGAL AUTHORIZATION Florida Statute Sections 202.18(2)(c), 212.20(6), 218.60-.67, 409.915. <br />FOR COLLECTION: <br />SPECIAL Only those counties that meet the eligibility requirements for revenue sharing <br />REQUIREMENTS: pursuant to Florida Statute 218.23 may participate. <br />SOURCE: State receives sales and use taxes and multiplies the amount by <br />8.814% after the reduction for State Trust Funds. Monies are then <br />distributed to counties and municipalities based on a distribution <br />factor. These funds are then split between the General and M.S.T.U. Funds. <br />USE: All MSTU Fund expenditures. <br />METHOD OF PAYMENT: Based on consumer spending, collected by the State and remitted to the County. <br />FREQUENCY OF State remits payment to the County on a monthly basis. <br />COLLECTION: <br />APPROXIMATE $3,600,000 <br />ANNUAL REVENUE: <br />Historical Revenues <br />$4,128,336 <br />2009/10 �h2010/11 a 2011/12 ■ 2012/13 a 2013/14 <br />14 <br />Z s''l• I Q <br />
