<br /> Children and families living in poverty is defined as those families with children whose income is below
<br /> the federal poverty level. The federal poverty can change from year to year, and are calculated based
<br /> on family size and composition. Table 7 below shows the 2013 poverty thresholds. So, a family
<br /> consisting of two adults and two children was considered to be living in poverty if their annual income
<br /> was below$23,624.
