<br /> in 2010, 2011, and 2012. In 2010, it is noteworthy that 60.2% of low-income persons reported having
<br /> access to dental care in Indian River, compared to 36.4% in Florida. The rates in Indian River and
<br /> Florida were comparable in 2011 and 2012.

<br /> WIC is a special supplemental nutrition program for women, infants, and children (WIC)that provides
<br /> supplemental foods, health care referrals, and nutrition education for low-income pregnant,
<br /> breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, as well as infants and children up to age 5
<br /> who are at nutritional risk.3
<br /> Table 45 shows the number of individuals eligible for WIC benefits who were served in 2009 through
<br /> 2012. During the time period shown, the rate of WIC eligible individuals served fluctuated in Indian
<br /> River and Florida however, Florida consistently had higher rates than Indian River. In 2012, Indian
<br /> River had a rate of 78.7 per 100,000 individuals, compared to 82.9 per 100,000 in Florida.
