PROCLAMATION <br />Celebrating the 25th Birthday <br />of <br />SAINT EDWARD'S.SCHOOL <br />WHEREAS, Saint Edward's School is celebrating its 25th <br />birthday on May 25, 1990; and <br />WHEREAS, Saint Edward's School began in a little office on <br />Beachland Boulevard in.1964, moved into the Riomar Club for its <br />first year of classes in 1965, and opened the Upper School on <br />South A -1-A in 1972; and <br />WHEREAS, the school began with 33 students in grades 5 <br />through 8, grew dramatically over the years to include grades <br />pre -kindergarten through 12, and will be operating at capacity in <br />September, 1990 with an enrollment of 750 students and a waiting <br />list in both the Lower and Upper Schools; and <br />WHEREAS, Saint Edward's School issued its first yearbook, <br />developed its first football team, and graduated its first senior <br />class in 1974; 'and <br />WHEREAS, the school draws people who desire an independent <br />school setting for their children and brings a positive cultural <br />tone to the students and residents in the county; and <br />WHEREAS, Saint Edward.'s School is an important educational <br />asset and has made a real impact on the economy of Indian River <br />County; and <br />WHEREAS, the school employees over 100 people on a permanent <br />basis who are dedicated to higher learning, making it one of the <br />top employers in the county: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA that May 25, 1990 <br />be recognized as the 25th Birthday of Saint Edward's School, and <br />the Board further urges all the citizens of Indian River County <br />to support and encourage Saint Edward's School in its endeavors <br />to enrich the lives of our children. <br />Adopted this 22nd day of May, 1990 <br />A 90 <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />Carolyn; .
