M M <br />the Landfill, and it will be going to the new septage facility <br />when that is built. <br />Commissioner Wheeler agreed that we can't grandfather in <br />pollutants that are hurting the environment, but he did not want <br />the blanket approach. <br />Commissioner Scurlock did not like the provision that would <br />have Directors Pinto and Galanis on the hot seat making all these <br />decisions. He did not feel that would be fair to them without <br />having very specific criteria for them to go by. <br />Chairman Eggert suggested that staff rewrite the ordinance <br />and then bring it back to the Commission to set a date for a <br />public hearing. <br />Commissioner Scurlock noted that as he understands it, our <br />wastewater operation and our septage facility are enterprise <br />funds, and if there is a cost associated with specific types of <br />uses, it is just like the rest of our rate structure. He doesn't <br />want to pay for Commissioner Wheeler's doughnut shop, and he <br />doesn't want Commissioner Wheeler to be paying for his home - he <br />just wants to be equitable so that those people who are putting <br />an impact on the system pay their fair share. <br />Commissioner Wheeler pointed out that his shop is in the <br />City of Vero Beach; so, this ordinance will have no effect on it. <br />Commissioner Bird inquired what the City of Vero Beach has <br />been doing about the restaurants that hook up to their system, <br />and Director Galanis answered that the City of Vero Beach several <br />years ago asked him to require an interceptor in his plan review <br />process, and he has been doing this for the past 4 years. <br />Chairman Eggert suggested that this ordinance be rewritten <br />and brought back to the Board at the meeting of July 10th with. <br />the understanding that we will then kind of workshop it at that <br />meeting, and concerned citizens should be made aware that we are <br />going to do this. <br />Director Galanis advised that he won't be in town on Jul.y <br />10th, and Commissioner Wheeler asked if we can't give this back <br />Jugs 2 �9so 13 BOOK r, FA'a <br />
