AUG 0 9 199& <br />E!OGK 'i h <br />OF <br />Commissioner Bird noted that on Page 4, paragraph (15), the <br />word "untake" should be "undertake." <br />Chairman Eggert inquired ,aboutIregulating the noise made by <br />motorcycles, and Planner DeBlois explained that this would be <br />dealt with under Paragraph (3) on Page 2 entitled Engine <br />Mufflers, and then you would look at the decibel level thresh - <br />holds. <br />Question arose about pinning down the definition of <br />residential development, and it was agreed we need to look at <br />that further. <br />Commissioner Bowman noted that she did not see anything <br />included about jet skis. She personally felt they should all go <br />out in the ocean and not be allowed in the river. <br />Planner DeBlois confirmed that there is nothing included <br />about jet skis at this time. He believed the muffler require- <br />ment would extend to them also but was not sure that will work. <br />Staff is also looking at trying to incorporate some zoning <br />restriction in regard to the dirt -bike issue. <br />Commissioner Bowman was particularly concerned about jet <br />skiers on the St. Sebastian River. <br />Director Keating felt that when the signage goes up about <br />manatee protection, we then will see some enforcement. <br />Warren Dill expressed his agreement with Commissioner <br />Bowman's concern about jet skiers, especially on the St. <br />Sebastian River. He lives near Dale Wimbrow Park, and the jet <br />skiers circle around in the river and scare the wildlife. He <br />noted that air boats also cause a problem, and he would suggest <br />that the County prohibit the launching of these in the St. <br />Sebastian River. <br />Attorney Vitunac felt we could put that in the police power <br />ordinance under Title 3 later on when that comes up. <br />There was no further public comment on Chapter 974. <br />54 <br />
